RA is sneaky anyways, you join a game to 'fool around' a bit and your opposing team consists of 1 player from Hand, 1 from vD
and some glad rank 9 guy that's glued to his PC 24/7. 'Innocent casual fun' my arse lololol. RA is like porn, in company of others, everyone shuns it and flames it. In practice they all play it.
I run into regular guru posters a lot too :P.

Dont expose everyone like that. You will make people cry
ON topic.
RA is fun when i have like 10 mins free. get my monk out and get myself a glad point or 3. Although when the team splits up into 3 different directions with me the monk standing in the middle having no clue who the hell to follow, i just die a little inside. But in the end its all just good fun and if i want to play serious pvp ill go gvg lol

Old Magebane Shot > New Magebane Shot.
The old one actually rewarded skilled interuption, rather than hand out a lucky disable.

Thy should change it to the Healing arena because the team with the most monks and Restoration rits always wins by griefing.

It's been a while since I did RA but I hopped on last night to get some faction for keys and had a really good time. Most of the teams I got on were decent. There was no raging, no griefing, no taunts. Generally, really good sportsmanship all around. I was amazed.

I don't think I've ever not been able to wipe a team of 2-3 healers with a decent team. However it is ridiculous that if you're paired with 2-3 other healers as a healer yourself that you can just sit there spamming guardian for 9 minutes and ruin another team's streak. Fortunately, most people just refuse to be a part of it and let you kill them or leave. ANet need to look into this, for sure.
Also it's funny how people think monk = auto win; gank monk + interrupts on res and shutdown = win.

Fun, like yesterday, we had 3 warriors and 1 ranger. Poor monk couldn't deal with all the damage. It was an awesome match anyways because the opposing team had a monk and 3 warriors. Lots of deaths and close violence make for good matches.

Why should I be forced to wait 8 minutes because no one will resign? It's poor design to punish people for refusing to endure 8 minutes of spamming heals for an inevitible draw.

I love it as well
It is the only place you can run an Assassin / Warrior with a sword and shield. And while your team dies and you get the constant f’ing Noob sin with a sword pings. Which slowly change during the match to OMG he is killing them all. While I take out 3 opponents at the same time with easily removable enchantments, poison and bleeding. For gods sake people bring condition removal / enchantment removal / and Rez signets.

There is a undeniable place for creativity on RA. While I will not say a original build will assure success, its often enough to award a glad point.
I see 2 teams who wins RA.. one is the Monk/Utility/DPSx2 and the other is a bizarre mix of skilled players which people just don't know how to beat.

Right... apparently you missed the update when they added that 8 miniute timer. 8 miniutes is not that long for a fight in GW. GvGs go much longer then that, and the old RA system had no timer (so you often ran into runners and "invincible" builds that could survive for 50 miniutes plus).

Right... apparently you forgot about the dishonorable system. Before, if someone was griefing, you could quit and get on with life. Now you are forced to wait or face a punishment. 8 mins is a long time when you are doing nothing.

AMEN TO THAT! There is nothing worse than being a Mesmer in RA with no monk. And even when you do get a monk you are usually still the primary target. Mesmers receive so.... much hate.
On another note, I enjoy RA ALOT MORE now that the caster sin was smacked with the nerf stick.
Also, about the comment about having the most healers wins. I have found after playing for two years that the more monks you have the LESS chance you have of winning. Due to the fact that none of the monks play like there is another monk, everyone over heals everyone, everyone burns their energy, everyone dies, because no one trusts the other 2-3 monks. I can honestly say I have never been able to force a draw with 4 monks or even force a team to rage quit with 4 monks, just doesn't happen.

It's beause they can give the same hate too, and mesmers have some viable self heals, go /A and bring feigned neutrality and dash and you'll find yourself a lot more durable. /Mo with restful breeze is also decent. When people are coming for you you can often use it against them, try and lure them to your backline and spike them for example works pretty well against slap happy stompers.

QFT, I moved to AB because every team had 1 or more in them.

RA FTL. Dishonor and gladiator point scale change ruined it bigtime! It's widely known by all experienced players that the key to success is "balance". Yea, I know, I know it's "Random Arena"... it's supposed to be "random" that way... and yet the fact STILL remains that a team without a proficient healer (i.e.: Mo/Any, Rt/Any, N/Rt, etc.) = FAILURE (unless u have a team of "R/P HaO's" or anything that shares a similar "self-healing" likeness). But if you have four players that have 50% of their build focused on defense and you get a monk as the fourth team member, you're now looking at a stalled match (or stalemate). RA FTL. My advice: TA (on Vent/TS = FTW). PvP will never be the same again... =/

TA isn't exactly beginner-friendly, that's a con about it. AB has this dreaded waits. RA isn't that bad. Without people leaving all the time I feel like my time there is 100% more well spent, even if I lose, I get to play. GW needs scrub arena's or it will run out of PvP-ers.
